June 16, 2025MLK Corridor Improvement Authority Building Knowledge for Business Owners and Operators
The MLK Corridor Improvement Authority (MLK-CIA) is working to revitalize Jackson’s Southside neighborhoods, and attracting and growing local businesses is a key priority. The Jackson Small Business Resource Fair on May 22nd was a forum for Jackson entrepreneurs and business support organizations to network, share ideas, and find resources to bolster business development. As MLK-CIA member Anthony Parker shared: "One of the main reasons businesses are not successful is that they don't have a solid financial plan. So we want to cover financing, marketing, developing a good digital footprint, and we're even trying to get architectural assistance to design what their business might look like."
The MLK-CIA’s multifaceted revitalization plan tackles architectural and environmental enhancements, business growth, residential improvements, and other factors that make communities more vibrant and competitive.
The Jackson Resource Fair was held from 3:00 to 5:30pm on May 22nd at the Martin Luther King Center, located at 1107 Adrian in the heart of Jackson’s Southside. Entrepreneurs, experienced business owners, and business support organizations could all participate and share their knowledge to help Jackson businesses thrive. "We're putting on this event because we care about our community and we have invested in our community”, said Parker. “We want to make sure that the people in our community who are starting or growing their business, have the right tools to be successful."
